Morton Presbyterian Church

Loving God, One Another, and the World

Our Pastor

Mary Harris Todd, Pastor

Mary has served as pastor of Morton Church since August, 1990.  She awakened to faith in her family’s arms and in the arms of the Kirk O’Cliff Presbyterian Church in the countryside north of Mineral, Virginia.  One of her earliest memories of church leadership dates from about the age of six or seven when she sang “How Great Thou Art” as a solo at a summer night revival service at the Kirk.

Mary graduated from the University of Richmond in 1982 with a B.A. in French.  She earned her M.A. in Christian Education from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education in 1987 and her M. Div. from Union Theological Seminary in Virginia in 1988.  Along the way she gained experience as a church youth worker, a church secretary, and a hospital chaplain intern.

Mary’s husband is John Todd, and they have a daughter, Laura, who is a 2016 graduate of Guilford College and a 2021 graduate of Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville, Tennessee.  Laura now serves as the interfaith chaplain at Albion College in Albion, Michigan.  She offers support to people of all faiths, or none.  Mary’s many interests include reading, music, and needlework.  She loves mending and finding new uses for old things.

You can learn more about Morton Church and about Mary on her blog, The Mustard Seed Journal.  She would enjoy hearing from you.  An easy way to get in touch with her is to click on the contact page in the sidebar on the left.
